During the first two years, students take theoretical and practical courses that provide a foundation in visual communication design. In the third and fourth years, they develop expertise through advanced courses in graphic design, video production, moving images, modelling, 2D and 3D animation, game design and interaction design.

The curriculum includes courses such as Introduction to Communication, Introduction to Communication Design, Basic Drawing, Fundamentals of Design, Art History and Aesthetics, Typography, Digital Design, Virtual Environment Modelling, Digital Design and Illustration, Motion Design, Digital Video Production, Game Design, Visual Communication Design Workshop, Interactive Design Studio, Digital Culture and Graduation Project. Students must also complete departmental and free electives.

Yes. Students complete a mandatory 42-workday internship during the fifth semester. They attend their internship placement three days a week and complete the course by receiving a grade of P (Pass).

Yes. Students may find their own internship placements. Those who experience difficulty can receive support from the Department’s academic staff and the University Career Office, depending on internship requests submitted by companies.

Yes. Students may pursue a double major with certain departments in the Faculty of Communication or other faculties, provided they meet the relevant criteria.

Applications may be submitted between the beginning of the third semester and the beginning of the fifth semester. Applicants must generally have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 and rank within the top 20% of their class. Students who do not meet the ranking requirement may apply if their placement score is not lower than the base score of the intended double major program.

Yes. Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 at the time of application. Applications may be submitted between the beginning of the third semester and the beginning of the sixth semester.

The Faculty of Communication has student exchange agreements with numerous higher education institutions abroad. Students can participate in Erasmus and other exchange programs to gain international academic experience. Information about partner institutions and applications is available from the University’s International Office and the Department’s Erasmus coordinator.

Yes. Students may take Spanish, German, Chinese and Russian courses as additional electives. Most foreign language courses are taught by native speakers.

Yes. Yeditepe University offers three forms of horizontal transfer: intra-institutional transfer, inter-institutional transfer based on GPA and transfer based on the central placement score. Horizontal and vertical transfer applications must be submitted within the dates specified in the academic calendar.

Yeditepe University offers merit-based scholarships, scholarships awarded by the University administration and athletic scholarships. Full, 50% and 25% tuition scholarships may also be awarded through the central placement examination.

Scholarships remain valid throughout the standard duration of the academic program. Students who meet the academic requirements and enrol in a double major program may receive an additional year of scholarship support.

No. Students may benefit from only one scholarship at a time. If a student qualifies for more than one scholarship, the scholarship with the highest value is applied.

Yeditepe University has separate residence halls for female and male students on the 26 August Campus, with a total capacity of 3,409 beds.

Not necessarily. Programs such as “Visual Communication and Design” or “Communication and Design” may differ significantly in scope and content. Students should examine each program’s curriculum and individual course content rather than relying only on its title.

Graphic Design, New Media and Interaction Design programs generally focus on their respective fields and subfields. Visual Communication Design has a broader interdisciplinary structure that combines communication, media, art and technology.

The first two years combine theory with foundational practice in design, art and communication. During the third and fourth years, students explore areas ranging from video production and modelling to animation, game design and interaction design. Practical courses, electives, the mandatory internship and the Graduation Project allow students to develop expertise according to their interests.

The Department of Visual Communication Design is part of Yeditepe University’s Faculty of Communication. This position allows the Department to address visual design in relation to media, cinema, advertising and digital communication.

The curriculum is regularly updated through meetings between academic staff and industry professionals. The Department combines theoretical knowledge, practical education and professional experience. Practical courses are generally offered at introductory and advanced levels in consecutive semesters.

Students can shape their education through electives within and outside the field. The mandatory internship provides professional experience before graduation, while the Graduation Project enables students to develop an original, feasible and problem-solving project with an academic advisor. Yes. Students graduate with 240 ECTS credits after completing the four-year undergraduate program. The diploma is therefore compatible with the international higher education system.
