1st International Coşkun Aral Photography Competition

1) Purpose & Subject of the Competition:

The international photography festival and competition was established with the initiative of Yeditepe University's Photography Club and with the support of the Radio, Television and Cinema Department and the Media Production and Broadcasting Unit. This festival, where education and art embrace, will take place with the support of our sponsors and will be open to participants, viewers and photographers. It will provide an unforgettable experience to its community. The subject of the competition is "Story of The Street". The excitement of the festival will be experienced with the works they will present that embody sustainability through their own experiences and the way they see what they look at.

2) Organization of the Competition:

The competition will be organized by Yeditepe University Photography Club, Yeditepe University Radio, Television and Cinema Department and Yeditepe University Media Production and Broadcasting Unit.

3) Competition Categories:

Participants will be able to participate in the competition in the digital category, in color or black and white.

4) Competition Conditions:

  1. Participation in the competition is free.

  2. Competition; It is open to the participation of all amateur and professional university students between the ages of 18-25 in all over the World, except for the Photography Club Board of Directors members, Radio, Television and Cinema Department academicians, Media Production and Publication Unit employees, Selection Committee members and their first-degree relatives.

  3. Each participant can participate in the competition with a maximum of 4 digital works.

  4. Photographs that have received an award in any other approved contest held previously or simultaneously with this contest, or photographs created by shutter/framing differences and/or cutting off a portion of these photographs, or produced by making color changes, cannot participate in the contest. On the contrary, the behavior is considered a violation of the rules. The fact that the photograph has been exhibited or published outside the competition organization does not constitute an obstacle to participation in the competition.

  5. Some operations on photographs such as color, sharpness, dust removal, contrast adjustments, and photographic interventions to an acceptable extent are accepted. The documentary structure of the photograph must not be changed.

  6. Photos created by montaging more than one photo (collage) and photos with HDR (High Dynamic Range) applied will not be accepted.

  7. Photographs taken from manned and unmanned aerial vehicles (drone etc.) are accepted into the competition. All permissions and responsibilities regarding the use of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles (Drones) for photography belong to the participant. One person must operate a drone.

  8. Photos taken with a mobile phone can also participate in the competition if they meet the conditions in Article 7 of the Specification.

  9. Photos created with artificial intelligence are not accepted in this competition.

  10. Participants are obliged to take all administrative and technical measures for the processing and transfer of personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law. In this context, if photographs of real persons are processed, individuals must be informed within the scope of the Law and their explicit consent must be obtained in cases where their express consent is required. Taking photos of people who can be seen in the photos sent to the competition and sending them to a competition; It is accepted that they have given permission for the photograph to be published in visual, internet and printed media. Responsibility for photographs that are not transferred in accordance with the law belongs to the participant.

  11. The participant accepts, declares and undertakes that the photographs uploaded for the competition belong entirely to him/her and that all permissions have been obtained. Any intervention or modification that uses someone else's images as they are or partially, makes the work appear as if it is one's own when it is not, and misleads the evaluation board, is considered a violation of the rules.

  12. The prize, title and all other achievements of the participant who is found to have violated the rules will be taken back. The prize is cancelled; The place is left blank. This does not mean that the ranking of other participants will be changed; It does not create a right to claim other participants who have received and/or have not received a prize. If a reward is given, the participant's prize is returned to the regulatory body within 7 (seven) business days from the date on which the violation is detected.

  13. By participating in this competition, the participant is deemed to have accepted in advance that the photographs he/she sends to the competition can be determined to comply with the competition rules and definitions, if necessary; The competition organization can conduct this research using all the means and techniques at its disposal. If the participant does not provide the necessary information requested from him, does not provide the original file taken with the camera, or does not cooperate with the organization to solve the problem, the participant will be banned by the organization on the grounds that he violated the rules and his name will be exposed in every way.

  14. It is recommended that the EXIF information (such as DPI, pixel information) of the photos uploaded to the system be kept intact to facilitate possible investigations. Otherwise, the regulatory body is not responsible for any problems that may occur in the system.

  15. Editor; may request high-resolution digital files of the photographs that received awards and were deemed worthy of exhibition from the participant.

  16. The regulatory body may decide to cancel or postpone all or part of the competition under conditions it deems appropriate. The regulatory body has the right to determine the methods and rules to be applied in cases of cancellation or postponement. The regulatory body is authorized to make all kinds of changes, including the rules of the specification, program changes, evaluations and awards, when deemed necessary, in solving problems and uncertainties, and to inform them in writing at least one week before the last date of participation.

5) Copyright (Use) Rights:

  1. The right to publish, use and exhibit photographs that receive awards (degrees, special awards, honorable mentions and exhibition) in the competition will belong to the organizing body together with the owners of the works. The right to use the work cannot be sold/transferred to a third person or institution. These works will be stored in the regulatory body archive.

  2. Participant; The photographs that won the prize, were entitled to be exhibited and were purchased will be subject to processing as defined in Article 21 of the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works No. 5846, reproduction as defined in Article 22, dissemination as defined in Article 23, representation and representation as defined in Article 24, as of the date of conclusion of the competition. In the promotion and publications of the regulatory body and its affiliated organizations on the internet, visual and print media channels, without limitation of place and content, in accordance with the financial rights of transmission to the public by means of means of sign, sound and/or image transmission defined in Article 25, and other relevant legislation, It accepts that it gives permission/consent to the regulatory body for the use of reproduction, processing, representation, public transmission rights and publishing rights, provided that the name of the author (participant) is not used in case of graphic arrangements such as photographs and collages etc. During this period, the right to use the works will belong to the regulatory body together with the author (participant).

  3. For works used in this way, the owner (participant) shall declare that the award and exhibition amounts specified in this specification also replace the copyright (use) fee, and that He irrevocably accepts, declares and undertakes that he will never revoke the permission he has given and will not prevent the use of the work in the above manner, nor will he claim any rights or receivables from the regulatory body and its sponsors for this permission/consent, and will not make any material or moral claims in the future.

  4. The participant accepts, declares and undertakes that the photographs he/she sends/uploads for the competition belong entirely to him/her, that they were taken by him/her and that all permissions have been obtained. All legal liability for copyright violations that may occur when images belonging to others are used as is or partially belongs to the participant.

  5. The Owner of the Work (participant) declares and accepts that the work is his/her own original work, that third parties do not have any rights on this work, that he/she has not previously transferred the rights to the work, and that in case of a contrary request by third parties, the owner of the work (participant) is legally responsible. and guarantees.

  6. Architectural structures, works of art, human faces, etc. used as objects in the photographs sent to the competition. It is assumed that permission has been obtained to take photographs of the elements and submit them to a competition, and to publish the photographs on the internet and in printed media. All responsibility for disputes that may arise due to such uses belongs to the participant.

  7. Photographs that received awards, were deemed worthy of exhibition and were purchased, can be used on the organizing institution's websites at Yeditepe.edu.tr, as well as on the organizing institution's Social Media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and as posters/billboards/racquets for promotional purposes and for the competition. It will be published in accordance with its purpose.

6) Other Issues:

  1. Prizes, travel and meal expenses of the competition will be covered by the organizing body. The awards specified in the specifications can be delivered by hand at the Award Ceremony, or they will be sent by the regulatory body to the personal addresses of the beneficiaries, which they will notify in writing. If the right holder does not receive the award in person or at their address and does not send the documents and information requested by the regulatory body, the award will expire at the end of 1 (one) month from the result notification date. In case of statute of limitations, the rights holder will be entitled to awards, royalties, etc. cannot make any demands.

  2. Competition awards; They will be delivered to their owners at the Award Ceremony, the place and time of which will be announced within the festival calendar. If the award ceremony cannot be held due to force majeure, the situation will be announced on the websites and the awards will be given to the winning participants through logistics channels.

  3. The regulatory body will be as careful as possible regarding the sending of e-mails, awards and catalogues, but cannot be held responsible for any damage that may occur during mailing. Participants accept that the addresses they use during the competition application are their legal residence addresses as the basis for all deliveries to be made in this way. The regulatory body does not accept any responsibility for matters arising from participants reporting incorrect addresses.

  4. Participants; By uploading their photos, they are deemed to have read the conditions of the competition, understood their content and accepted and approved the terms. This specification comes into force when the participant submits his/her competition photos. Participants do not have the right to object to the provisions of this specification later.

7) Sending/Uploading Artworks:

  1. Since the competition will be held according to the online photo system, no alternative shipment (e-mail, cargo, hand delivery, etc.) will be accepted.

  2. Sending the competition photos online will be done at https://iletisimfakultesi.yeditepe.edu.tr/tr/radyotelevizyon-ve-sinema-b... and by following the photo sending / uploading instructions.

  3. Photos to be uploaded must be without mats and margins. Name, signature, logo, date, etc. related to the identity of the participant on the photograph. information should not be available.

  4. The technical specifications, sizing and naming of the photos to be uploaded during participation must be done in advance, the files must be kept ready and uploaded in a single session.

  5. Photo(s) to participate in the competition must be saved in JPG/JPEG format with a minimum resolution of 150 DPI and the size of the files must not be less than 5 Mb and must not exceed 25 Mb. Otherwise, or if the EXIF information is corrupted, the system will not allow the photo(s) to be uploaded.

  6. When photos are uploaded to the system, "Photo Name", "Place Taken" and "Date Taken" information must be written in the relevant fields for each photo in the form opened. This information is taken as the basis of the participant's declaration. Misrepresentation is considered a rule violation.

  7. It is recommended to use the name given to a photo with the same photo name.

  8. The organizers will not be responsible for any possible problems that may arise from the uploading of the works.

  9. It is not possible to participate in the competition with photographs produced by artificial intelligence.
