What is the purpose of the Public Relations and Publicity Department?
The Department of Public Relations and Publicity trains students who will lead the communication and public relations sector with its academic staff who have proven themselves with their studies on a national and international scale. We prepare our students, who have the opportunity to study in Europe with Erasmus agreements, as well as the opportunity to do minor and double major in many different departments, as global citizen communication experts who think analytically, can produce creative solutions, are self-confident, adhere to ethical rules, and act with the awareness of their social responsibility.
Is the Public Relations and Publicity Department accredited?
Yes. As a result of the accreditation application we made to ILAD Communication Research Association in 2021, our department was entitled to receive a 5-year Accreditation Certificate. Our department is the first Public Relations and Publicity Department to win this accreditation directly for a period of five years in Turkey.

The Department of Public Relations and Publicity, under the Communication Faculty of Yeditepe University, offers a training program aimed at educating professionals who are experts in their fields, who can establish strategic relationships between institutions and their target audiences, who can use communication technologies at a high level, who can analyze social dynamics well, who are committed to professional ethical values, who can think in a global perspective and apply it locally. In the curriculum, there are courses in the fields of specialization such as political communication, internet and new media, the basic framework of the public relations and promotion discipline. Our academic staff, which consists of academics who have proven themselves with their studies on a national and international scale, and the leading names of the sector, guide our students with all their knowledge. Public Relations and Publicity Undergraduate Program is a department that supports interdisciplinary knowledge. Therefore, our graduates who successfully complete their education can work in various professions both at Turkey and abroad. They can work in departments such as corporate communication, public relations, advertising, strategic marketing communication, brand management, human resources, public relations, advertising and social media agencies of national and international private companies, public institutions, non-governmental organizations, media and broadcasting organizations and consulting and research companies operating in different sectors. Graduates have the opportunity to work in roles such as manager, consultant, brand representative, copywriter, strategic communicator, advertising director, content manager, marketing specialist. Which courses are included in the curriculum of the Department of Public Relations and Publicity?
After taking the theoretical and practical courses, in which they can master the basics of public relations, in the first two years of their education, they can develop their expertise with practical courses in different branches of the field in the third and fourth grades. In this context, our curriculum consists of basic courses, field courses and elective courses. Elective courses, on the other hand, are divided into three groups as field electives that students can choose from all departments of the Faculty of Communication, free electives that they can choose from the university's elective course pool, and concentration area electives that students who want to concentrate more on a field other than communication studies can choose related to that field. Is there an internship obligation in the Public Relations and Publicity Department?
Yes. There is a compulsory internship course that students must complete in the 6th semester of their education. This course is spread over three days of the week and is applied as 42 working days in a semester. The internship course is completed when the student receives a P-Pass grade from the course.
Should the student of the Public Relations and Publicity Department who are going to apply for the internship place themselves or can they get support from the department in finding an internship place?
In Public Relations and Publicity Department, our students can choose their internship places if they wish. Our Internship Coordinator provides support to our students who have problems in finding an internship place, in line with the intern demands of the companies.
Is it possible for a student enrolled in the Public Relations and Publicity Department to do a double major (DMP)?
Yes. In the Public Relations and Publicity Department students have the opportunity to do a double major with certain departments of different faculties as well as other departments in the Faculty of Communication, if they meet the relevant criteria determined by the university.

Yes. In order to apply for the minor program, the student's GPA in the major program must be at least 2.50 at the time of application. It is possible to apply for a minor program within the periods specified in the academic calendar, at the beginning of the third semester or at the earliest in the beginning of the sixth semester. Yes. Communication Agency İLA, operating within the Faculty of Communication and equipped with new technologies, serves as an important application area for students.
Is it possible to learn a second foreign language while studying Public Relations and Publicity Department?

Which social responsibility projects have been implemented in the Public Relations and Publicity Department?
Yeditepe University Department of Public Relations and Publicity aims to encourage its students to participate in social responsibility activities with its philosophy of service to society and to enable them to have an instructive and creative education process that is intertwined with the society. In line with the updates made in the undergraduate program of the department in 2007, our students must successfully complete the Social Responsibility Project for Graduation in order to be eligible for graduation. Within the scope of this course, students carry out social responsibility projects that will contribute to the university's establishing sustainable relations with its immediate environment every year. - Intergenerational Solidarity Project from 7 to 77
Within the scope of the Project and with the lead of our Founding President of the Department, Prof. Dr. Ayseli Usluata, our students met with the elderly in Kayışdağı Darülaceze. Our students visited the Darülaceze residents at different times of the day every week and spent quality time with them by organizing various activities.
- We're Breaking the Walls!
Within the scope of the Project and under the supervision of our Founding Head of the Department, Prof. Dr Ayseli Usluata, our students gave lessons in various fields to the children of families residing in Kayışdağı who continue their primary education and helped them with their school education. Thanks to the project, the children, on the one hand, adopted their university sisters and older brothers as role-models, on the other hand, they gained new skills and discovered themselves through activities in fields such as painting, music, English and basketball. Our students, on the other hand, witnessed the teaching profession's ability to "break down the walls" throughout the project, and gained experience in volunteering by gaining a more sensitive view of their environment.

Our students, who took part in the "Hello to Life" project carried out by the International Life Association, visited Ataşehir Yunus Emre Special Education and Application Center at regular intervals and helped with the projects made by the disabled students here. The aim of this project was to ensure the occupational, educational, social and cultural harmony of the disabled and/or disadvantaged groups in the society.

The Career Development and Alumni Communication Directorate within our university supports our students and graduates in their personal development processes and in planning their career journeys that will begin with their graduation, as well as making various suggestions, helping and guiding them to create their own opportunities.
