Call for Papers
Prepared within the framework of Yeditepe University’s 30th anniversary, this special issue aims to examine the relationship between communication education and social responsibility from a critical and multidimensional perspective. Over the past three decades, communication education and communication research in Türkiye have undergone significant processes of institutionalization, diversification, and transformation. Digitalization, changes in media ecologies, the redefinition of academia–industry relations, and increasing expectations regarding the societal role of universities necessitate a reconsideration of communication faculties’ practices in education, research, and community engagement. In this context, the special issue seeks to bring together studies that address the development of communication faculties, modes of academic production, interdisciplinary orientations, and the public responsibilities of universities within a historical and critical framework. Submissions are expected to engage with the transformation of communication education, the structural and theoretical challenges of the academic field, the societal role of universities, and possible future directions. The topics listed below are not restrictive. Review articles and original research articles aligned with the thematic framework of the special issue will be considered.
