Advertising Design and Communication Department, which is one of the undergraduate programs within the Faculty of Communication, has a four-year education period.

The education language of the Advertising Design and Communication Department is 100% English. All courses are taught in English. An English placement test is applied to students who will start at Yeditepe University. Students who are successful in the exam start directly into the first year. The purpose of Advertising Design and Communication Department,

  • Within the framework of our understanding of contemporary science and education, to have academic sufficiency in the area of social sciences and communication,
  • Being able to manage the communication process of a real brand, in line with the infrastructure knowledge and skills he/she has by taking part in projects carried out in cooperation with the sector,
  • To understand the local and global parameters of his/her profession,
  • Being able to follow and direct the transformations in communication technologies and national/international markets,
  • Being able to analyze the social effects of these transformations,
  • Being able to meet the needs and expectations of the advertising industry,
  • To train leaders who have the ability to think critically and have ethical and sustainable values.

Yes. Our department has been accredited for 5 years (2022-2027) by ILAD Communication Research Association. Our department is also the first department in the field of advertising in Turkey to be directly awarded the Accreditation Certificate for a period of 5 years.

Advertising is a field that develops everyday and its scope is constantly expanding with technological innovations. For this reason, it is important for a student who wants to study in the Department of Advertising Design and Communication to be curious, follow the innovations and eager to research. A student who wants to be a student at the Department of Advertising Design and Communication should be a habitual follower of innovations, express himself/herself, have creative and critical thinking skills, have a high awareness of the environment he/she is in, read social dynamics, be open to teamwork and solution-oriented.

Yes. The field of advertising is a field that is constantly developing and expanding its scope in the context of globalizing world conditions. Therefore, job opportunities are increasing day by day. On a global scale, in line with the need for specialists working in the field of advertising, graduates' domestic and international job opportunities are wide.

The graduates work in Turkey’s and the world's leading national and international creative agencies, digital and social media agencies, media planning agencies, production companies, press and broadcasting organizations and companies' advertising, marketing and corporate communication departments, or they tend to graduate studies in order to pursue an academic career.

In our curriculum, there are courses that enable our students to have knowledge and understanding of the field, to apply their knowledge in the field through both theoretical and practical courses, to see the part-whole relationship, to put forward a new product and to look critically at the product created and the social, cultural, economic, ethical and legal conditions in which that product was created. In this context, our curriculum has been created with the categories of Core Courses, Field Courses and Elective Courses.

Yes. Communication Agency İLA, equipped with new technologies operating within the Faculty of Communication, MAC laboratories, radio-television studios, a plateau and a Project Agency for Advertising Design and Communication Department students serve as important practice areas for students.

Yes. There is a compulsory internship course that students must complete in the 3rd year, 1st semester. This course is applied as 42 working days in a semester, spread over 3 days a week. During the semester, students go to internship departments for 3 days and come to the campus for 2 days.

Students can get support from the department and the Career Office of our university in finding the institution where they will do their internship.

Yes. Advertising Design and Communication Department students have the opportunity to do a double major both within the Faculty of Communication and with certain departments within other faculties, if they meet the specified criteria (Yeditepe University, Associate Degree and Undergraduate Regulations Article 31). Please click here for the relevant regulation.

It is possible to apply for a double major program within the periods specified in the academic calendar, at the beginning of the 3rd semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the 5th semester at the latest for the undergraduate program. Yes. Students of the Advertising Design and Communication Department have the opportunity to do a minor with certain departments both within the Faculty of Communication and other faculties, if they meet the specified criteria (Yeditepe University, Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulations Article 31). It is possible to apply to a minor program within the periods specified in the academic calendar at the earliest 3rd semester, latest 6th semester for the undergraduate program. If the student completes the minor program, he or she receives a certificate for the relevant program. Please click here to view examples of current minor agreements.

Yes. Our department has concentration areas such as Economics, E-Commerce, Graphic Design, Art and Cultural Management. The student completes the free elective courses in his/her program with 4 pre-determined courses related to the area he/she wants to concentrate in. In the student's transcript, these courses are also shown as area of concentration.

Yes. If students wish, they can take foreign language courses such as Spanish, German, Chinese and Russian as elective courses.

Within the framework of the Visual Communication Design Department curriculum, students are given an education in animation design, game design, interaction design and video production for all branches of visual communication design.

In the Department of Advertising Design and Communication, the management of the processes from the initial stage of a brand/product or service to reaching the end consumer and in the post-purchase period (For example, strategic consumer research in the campaign process, creating a message suitable for the target audience, design processes, media planning strategies, etc.) is in question.

Advertising Design and Communication Department adopts to create all processes of advertising and marketing communication with a holistic approach. This holistic approach covers the dynamics of the developing and changing advertising industry, such as digital marketing, media planning, social media management, corporate communication and design. In this context, the number of visual design courses in the Advertising Design and Communication Department is higher than the number of design courses in the advertising departments.

Yes. The students graduate with 240 international credits at the end of the 4-year education life. In this way, the diploma obtained has international validity.
