A “Collaboration Protocol” between Yeditepe University Communication Faculty and Kadikoy Municipality was signed by Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl and Kadiköy Mayor Aykurt Nuhoglu. According to the protocol, Yeditepe University students will be able to take courses and internships at the Kadıköy Municipality.
The Protocol signing ceremony took place at the Municipality of Kadıköy with the participation of Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl, Aykurt Nuhoğlu, Yeditepe University Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Billur Ülger and Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pelin Hürmeriç, Kadıköy Municipality Deputy Mayor Onur Temürlenk, and Press and Public Relations Director Ayten Genç.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl said “we attach great importance to our students gaining experience in business life as well as in their academic lives. With this cooperation protocol signed with the Municipality of Kadikoy, we believe that our students will gain the best experience in the field by taking an active role in the projects to be developed in line with the needs of the municipality.
Kadıköy Municipality Mayor Aykurt Nuhoğlu said “I believe in young people. I believe the future will change with young people. This agreement will be an important cooperation in terms of reflection of the energies and ideas of young people to local governments.”
Practical Lessons and Internship Opportunities
The protocol, which was signed with the aim of developing academic projects that will contribute to science and society with the support of students and instructors, and to carry out joint studies with various activities, consists of two phases.
In the first phase, 4th year students from the Yeditepe University Public Relations and Advertising and Advertising Design and Communication departments will take the elective course called “Communication Practices in Local Administrations” which will be opened every year and take part in corporate communication applications and projects realized by the Kadıköy Municipality and its affiliated units.
Students who will have the opportunity to observe the studies in the field will also develop projects in accordance with the needs of the municipality by using the information they obtained during their university education.
In addition, the students chosen from each of the five departments in the Faculty of Communication will be completing their third year compulsory internships at the relevant units of Kadıköy Municipality.
